Fees & FAQ
for Therapy in Pennsylvania
Your investment in therapy is an investment in yourself.
I am committed to providing good therapy to you, and I invite you to be equally committed to the process.
Currently I accept the following insurances: Aetna, Oscar, Oxford, Optum, United, Quest Behavioral Health
If you don’t see your insurance listed, please read on.
I offer out-of-network services. Although it’s not the same process as having insurance cover your services directly, I am insurance-friendly! Your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits to help fund your therapy journey, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of the session cost.
I’ve partnered with Thrizer to make it easier for you to verify & use your out-of-network benefits and automatically submit claims. They will manage the reimbursement process for you to save you the insurance headache. Once you meet your deductible, you receive reimbursements in a few weeks via direct deposit. You can create an account and get started at www.thrizer.com.
If you prefer not to use Thrizer, I am happy to provide you with a monthly superbill, so you can coordinate with your insurance company directly.

Frequently Asked Questions:
About the Consultation Call & the Experience of Therapy
-
I offer therapy services online to residents throughout Pennsylvania.
I host my sessions through a HIPAA and PIPEDA secure online location.
-
I typically meet with clients on a weekly basis.
I may recommend that we increase or decrease the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs.
For example, I commonly work with clients on a twice a week or every other week basis.
I also work with clients less frequently but on an intensive basis.
-
Before scheduling a therapy session, I do a free 20-minute intro call with all potential new clients. This gives us the chance to get to know each other. Here’s what you can expect:
I’ll ask you about why you’re seeking therapy
I’ll tell you a bit about myself and my approach as a therapist
We can talk about which specific service I offer might be the best fit for your needs — (ongoing individual therapy, extended sessions, or therapy intensives)
You can ask me any questions that I didn’t cover
We’ll talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc.
-
If we both decide we're a good fit after our intro call, we'll schedule our first therapy appointment. I'll send you a couple of quick forms to complete before our first session. I'll also send you a link for our video calls that you can use every week.

As a therapist, I have a very intuitive and co-creative approach to pacing the work. My style tends to be very slow, spacious, and welcoming of the quiet… but that doesn’t mean my attention isn’t also sharp and focused!
And you will get to experience that from the very beginning. In your first session, I drop many of the traditional assessment questions that therapists ask at first, because I believe you have ample time beyond the initial session to tell your stories and get into your history. I think of our first full meeting (75 minutes) as a trial therapy session.
My goals in session one are to focus on the present & the future:
Set the therapeutic tone: mindful, attentive, and grounded
Learn about the issue that is calling you into therapy
Understand the various areas and relationships of your life where this issue is causing disruption
Get your ideas about what you think is causing the problem
Be curious about what you have done with this problem in the past
Orient toward your goals and to flesh out the approach you want to take toward this problem now
-
I understand that schedules can change. Please try as best as you can to inform me as soon as possible if there is a scheduling conflict.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Clients will be charged the full fee for cancelled or rescheduled sessions with less than 24 hours’ notice. A session that is not attended and was not provided with a cancellation/reschedule notice, also referred to as a no-show, will also be charged the session full fee.

I am in network with a few insurance companies. Please contact me to verify if I am in-network with your insurance.
For EMDR Extended Sessions and Intensives, I do not accept insurance at this time; therefore, you would be responsible for the cost of the session upfront.
However, I am happy to provide you a superbill (itemized receipt of services) as needed for reimbursement. Many insurance companies provide out-of-network reimbursements for mental health services. I encourage you to check with your insurance provider to understand what reimbursement options may be available.
-
During our consultation call, I can verify if you have out-of-network benefits and how much you would have left on your deductible.
If you prefer to learn about your OON benefits yourself before you schedule a consultation call, I recommend calling the Member Services number on the back of your health insurance card.
These questions may be helpful to ask:
• Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage?
• Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?
• What is my out-of-network deductible?
• How much of my deductible has been met this year?
• Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?
• What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?
• How much will I be reimbursed for
Intake session (CPT code: 90791)
60-minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90837)
• How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?
• How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?

While insurance increases access to therapy for many, insurance does also put constraints on how people should heal.
Cutting edge research and practice shows that EMDR and extended session lengths lead to faster symptom reduction and relief.
When I trained in EMDR and saw the evidence of how longer sessions actually cut overall length of treatment shorter, my decision to offer therapy sessions that go beyond the 60-minute covered timeframe despite insurances not covering them was made for me.

About the Practice
-
In my practice, I offer extended sessions for my clients because healing from complex trauma, chronic anxiety, or persistent dysfunctional patterns often asks both client and therapist to go beyond the traditional hour.
-
Research has shown that, for people who have experienced complex post-traumatic stress, extended sessions promote lasting reduction of trauma symptoms.
I want not just trauma survivors to experience healing at this level, but also people whose anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, or addictions have a root in an unresolved disturbing memory to experience this healing, too.
A single intensive could be a game-changer for your healing journey. I have observed in my clients that even a single half-day intensive allows them to get unstuck from going around in the same circles, and that intensives provide a sturdy foundation for any subsequent internal work and growth.
The personal answer? I have personally gone through multiple day-long trauma intensives that blended EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and somatic therapy to really break free from my complex trauma… and each intensive changed my life and allowed me to uncover and heal deeply buried issues faster than I could have ever imagined. As a therapist also trained in EMDR and Somatic IFS, how could I not offer them?
